Anti-Kadiani group suspends programme in Munshiganj

Sept 2: There was no untoward incident here today, as the organisers of an anti-Kadiani group withdrew their programme to declare the Kadianis as “non-Muslims”.
The organisers of International Khatme Nabuat Movement of Bangladesh withdrew their programme—mass procession and rally—following a meeting with local administration on Thursday night.
Meetings were also held at upazila level so that the devotees can return to their respective residences after Juma prayers.
International Khatme Nabuat Movement sources said their central senior Nayeb-e-Ameer Nur Hossain Nurani who arrived here to participate in today’s programme. Later the programme was withheld following a fruitful meeting with local administration keeping in mind the interest of the country.
Five platoons of armed police battalion brought from Shariatpur, Manikganj and Narayanganj, were deployed at various points in the town to maintain law and order after the anti-Kadiani programme was declared.
Dhaka Range DIG Muhammad Sadequr Rahman today arrived here to oversee law and order.
A local police official said peaceful atmosphere has been prevailing in the district. Even after withdrawal of the programme, which was set to start after Juma prayers, adequate steps have been taken so that no untoward incident can take place, he said.
